Others made me what I am.
Piece by piece,
Put me together,
Till I was one piece.
There I stood, in someone’s spot.
Strong and solid, or so I thought.
Silently watching,
Never speaking,
Of my innermost thoughts,
Not one drop leaking.
There I stood, along paths everyone took.
But part of none, doing nothing but look.
I wanted to say something
And make them see.
But I didn’t, I couldn’t,
Me just being me.
There I stood, nothing to start, nowhere to stop,
Ever destined to remain part of the backdrop.
Waiting to crack,
And one day to the ground tumble.
Waiting for my stone heart
To slowly crumble.
There I stood, looking tall but feeling small,
For all I ever was, ever will be, is but a roadside wall.
