#55 - Blind

Soaring into the skies

I fly with the birds of prey

I see the world through their eyes

I hear what they have to say

I fly through the clouds of fire

As they shower their hellish hail

The flames pour from the sky

And burn the world away

Pawns marching in line

The Masters hide away

The cannons start to fire

The same old story again

Through the smoke, I see the lies

My vision clears along the way

I'm staring at the battle lines

And I've been wide awake but blind

Scrambling through the tide

Of faceless crowds everyday

I see their paths on fire

As they try to get away

Fallen and left to die

The stench of death fills the air

The rivers glow red in the dark

On a world turned insane

I see their pain, I hear their cries

I see the hope as it fades away

Left are shells empty inside

And I've been wide awake but blind

Open your eyes and see

What lies underneath the peace

I see it all implode inside

I dream of them night and day

Silent screams and hopeless eyes

And I've been wide awake but blind
