#52 - All Things Must Pass

We find some people

And live out our dreams together.

Until we begin to see,

Something doesn’t work out,

Sometimes we pick up where we left off

And sometimes we just let it be.

We hear it so often

That all you need is love,

But that’s just the start.

Where you go from there,

What you’re ready to put in,

Decides whether you’ll come together or part.

We spend so much time

Living in an eternal yesterday.

Our nostalgia for what was

Overshadowing what is,

And what should be,

Like a whole life put on pause.

But tomorrow never knows

What else it could have been.

And somehow along the way

We’ve come down to hello, goodbye.

And there’s not much else left in between

In the things we said today.

How much of our short lives

We spend running

Here, there, and everywhere.

Not knowing what someone once said,

“We must build the republic of heaven where we are

Because for us, there is no elsewhere.”
